Short answer
The City of Penticton requires Part 9 homes to meet at least Step 3 of the BC Energy Step Code, with airtightness testing at both mid-construction and completion (Building Bylaw 2021-21). Okanagan AeroBarrier seals Penticton and South Okanagan builds to a measured ACH50 target, ideally around the mid-construction test.
Two tests, not one
Penticton's Green Build requirements say airtightness testing at mid-construction and at completion is a requirement of the Step Code in Penticton, adopted through Building Bylaw 2021-21. Part 9 homes must reach at least Step 3.
That mid-construction test is the best thing that can happen to your schedule, because it is exactly when a seal is cheapest and easiest. Book the seal right after it (or right before, if you would rather the mid-construction number already be a pass), and the final test is not a surprise. How the tests fit together.
Scheduling South Okanagan work
We are Kelowna-based and batch Penticton, Summerland and Naramata work, so give us your mid-construction date as early as you can. Rescue calls after a failed test get fitted in as fast as the schedule allows. Failed blower door test.
